Playschool Program Activities

The playschool program is a combination of Playschool Activities and Gymnastics.

Playschool Activities

  • Has a variety of structured and unstructured times
  • Activities are geared to the age and maturity of the children
  • Program is often centered around themes, seasons, holidays, songs, stories, crafts, dramatic play, games, worksheets, discussions, etc. are incorporated around these themes
  • Some theme centers include dinosaurs, circus, farm, hospital, workshop, restaurant, store, housekeeping, beauty salon, etc.
  • Other activities include painting, water and sand play, play dough, puzzles, books, peg boards, educational games and worksheets on numbers, matching, mazes, etc. and a large variety of toys
  • Letters, numbers, colors, shapes etc. are also learned through the above activities and are continually reinforced
  • Firemen, R.C.M.P., nurses, dentists, mechanics, etc. visit our class

Gymnastics Activities

  • Follows a structured routine with 1 coach and 1 to 2 parent helpers
  • Learn basic gym rules which are reinforced each class
  • Children warm up with active games and stretching
  • Children always get in line behind the coach when going from one destination to another within the gym
  • Next we do a gym floor circuit activity and also work on learning skills on various pieces of gymnastic apparatus
  • For fun time to play “freely”, we go to the foam pits (this is a reward for being a good listener and participant in their gym class).
  • Just before returning to the playschool classroom, the children are rewarded with a washable hand stamp
  • The class must remain quite structured for the safety of all children within the gym, as other classes are going on with various athletes and at all skill levels
