Recreational Program

 

Spring Session 2019 Dates

Recreational classes are an introduction to gymnastics as a sport. In these classes we focus on the fun, fitness and fundamentals of gymnastics. We offer classes for children age 2 and up. Come and join one our classes and have fun learning and exploring  gymnastics in a safe environment with a NCCP Certified Coach.

Exelta Gymnastics Club requires all families of recreational participants in a class that are 1 hour and up per week, to work one Cleaning Bee per session (per family), up to a maximum of 2 cleaning bees/ year( year runs Sept to June).

A $125 deposit is required at the time of registration, in the form of a cheque or credit card number,  which will be returned when you are finished working your shift.

Sign up sheets are posted in the hallway to the Playschool Room and you responsible for signing up and attending your time.

All participants are encouraged to help with ongoing club fundraising to assist with keeping club costs affordable!

Please note that refunds are only available if a doctor's note is provided or you are moving out of Central Alberta. No other refunds will be issued.

Summer Camps 2019:

 Due to new insurance rules that came into effect July 2018, Summer Camps are no longer able to use the trampolines. With this being said though your child will still get use of all the other equipment in the gym like the bars, beams and the fantastic foam pit!

 

 

Details of our Classes

Pre-School Classes

Parent and Tot - ages 2-3  ( In a group setting, your child learns how to socialize while learning the basics of gymnastics)

Jumping Beans - age 3 ( Unparented class, where your child will gain independance while learning  gymnastics in a safe environment)

Climbing Monkeys -  age 4 ( Your child  is having fun while learning the progressions of gymnastic skills and Following the CanJump program for the Trampoline portion of the class)

Active Start - age 5 (Can gym badges begin as well as the CanJump program is followed for the Trampoline portion of the class)

 

Recreational Classes - Ages 6 & up

 Beginner Gym - ages 6 + This class is for Boys and Girls who are working on their first 3 badges in the CanGym program (Burgundy, Red and Tan). Classes are an hour and a half long and include lots of fun, a focus on fitness, the fundamentals of gymnastics and incorporation of the Can Jump program for the trampoline portion of the class.

Beginner Gym - ages 9 + This class is for Boys and Girls who are working on their first 3 badges in the CanGym program (Burgundy, Red and Tan). Classes are an hour and a half long and include lots of fun, a focus on fitness, the fundamentals of gymnastics and incorporation of the Can Jump program for the trampoline portion of the class.

 Beginner Gym Step 2  - ages 6 + This class is for Boys and Girls who are working on their 4th and 5th badges in the CanGym program (Bronze and Purple). Classes are an hour and a half long and include lots of fun, a focus on fitness, the fundamentals of gymnastics and incorporation of the Can Jump program for the trampoline portion of the class.

Beginner Gym Step 2  - ages 9 + This class is for Boys and Girls who are working on their 4th and 5th badges in the CanGym program (Bronze and Purple). Classes are an hour and a half long and include lots of fun, a focus on fitness, the fundamentals of gymnastics and incorporation of the Can Jump program for the trampoline portion of the class.

 Novice Gym - ages 7 + This class is for Boys and Girls who are working on their 6th 7th and 8th badges in the CanGym program (Blue, Turquoise and Silver). Classes are an hour and a half long and include lots of fun, a focus on fitness, the fundamentals of gymnastics and incorporation of the Can Jump program for the trampoline portion of the class.

 Intermediate / Advanced Girls - ages 7 +This class is for Boys and Girls who are working on their final 4 badges in the CanGym program (Orange, Yellow, Green & Gold). Classes are an hour and a half long and include lots of fun, a focus on fitness, the fundamentals of gymnastics and incorporation of the Can Jump program for the trampoline portion of the class.

Trampoline Classes - Ages 6 & up

 Beginner T&T - ages 6 + ( In this beginner level trampoline and tumbling course your child will begin working on the first 3 steps of the CanJump program)

Intermediate / Advanced T&T - ages 7 + ( In this intermediate level course your child will work at completing steps 4-6 of the CanJump program) this class is a 2 hour class

 

Teen Classes - Ages 12 +

Teen Class- ages 12+ ( In this class your teen can develop  in all levels, and choose what skills they would like to learn and improve on as well as the CanJump program is followed for the Trampoline portion of the class)

 

** All female classes ages 6 and up are encouraged to wear a bodysuit in the gym. Ages 9 and up are required to wear bodysuits.**

    Bodysuits can be purchased at Exelta or various dance stores in Red Deer.
